Thomas Carlton Law

It is regret and sorrow that the Piedmont Bend community must say good bye to our friend and neighbor, Thomas Carlton Law, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 10. The Laws have been members of PBRA since they moved to the top of the hill in 1995. Carlton is survived by his wife, Liz and his three children – Chris, Allison and Corinne. On behalf of the Piedmont Bend community we extend our deepest sympathies to them.

Services will be on Monday, June 15, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3401 Lower Roswell Road, SE, Marietta, GA 30068. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. with church services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Carlton’s hometown of Albany, GA.

Annual Board Meeting

Last night we held our Annual Board Meeting. Some of the items discussed are as follows:

  • New President was elected —  Cliff Pepper — CPEPPER@CAMPBELLSTONE.ORG
  • New Treasurer was elected — John Luckett — JOHN.LUCKETT@SIMPSONHOUSING.COM
  • Mickey Mellen has taken over the care of the card access system
  • Finances were cleared and presented to the new president
  • The By-Laws were changed to compensate the President and Treasurer and will read as follows:

The President and Treasurer will receive free Membership. The Membership director will receive free Membership if the quota of 100 Members is met. To receive these discounts you must serve at least 2 years on the Board, and will receive the discounts during that time. If at any time the Members have found you negligent in you duties the dues will be paid in full at that time. This will coincide with the Laws under Article V Section 3. All other Board Members will receive the discounts set fourth under Article V Section 4.

Neighborhood Luminaries

Piedmont Bend will have its annual luminary night Sunday, Dec. 21.

Vote for Sprayberry as “Team of the Week”

Congratulations to the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets on winning the Region 7AAAA Championship!!  We are so very proud of you all.  But there’s more – 

Fox 5 News has chosen Sprayberry to compete for the Team of the Week!!

We need EVERYONE to visit this link and vote for Sprayberry as the Team of the Week.  You can have one vote per computer per hour.  Voting began at 3:00 pm on Saturday and will continue until Tuesday this week.  If we get the most votes, we will receive a Pep Rally, a trophy and lots of positive public awareness about what a great community school Sprayberry High School really is.  The reporter at Fox 5 wants us to do well and they will be covering the Playoff game for us next week, even if we do not win the voting contest.
